Era7 Bioinformatics R&D group, "Oh no sequences!", launches Bio4j.
We have recently launched Bio4j a graph based DB including most data available in UniProt (SwissProt + Trembl) plus Gene Ontology (GO) and UniRef (50,90,100).
Bio4j provides a completely new and powerful framework for protein related information querying and management. Since it relies on a high-performance graph engine (Neo4j), data is stored in a way that semantically represents its own structure. On the contrary, traditional relational databases must flatten the data they represent into tables, creating “artificial” ids in order to connect the different tuples; which can in some cases eventually lead to domain models that have almost nothing to do with the actual structure of data.
Oh no sequences! is attending to the meeting "Applied Bioinformatics & Public Health Microbiology 2011" at Cambridge next 1-3 June
The Era7 R&D group, “Oh no sequences!” is attending to the meeting "Applied Bioinformatics & Public Health Microbiology 2011" that will be held at the Wellcome Trust Genome Campus next 1-3 of June. Oh no sequences! will be presenting the abstract called “BG7, A new system for bacterial genome annotation designed for NGS data” about a new system entirely designed at Oh no sequences! whose aim is to provide a quick, accurate and specific for next-generation sequencing data bacterial genome annotation.
Oh no sequences! attends to the conference "Microbiome: deciphering the last organ of human body", 18-19 of November 2011
Part of the Era7 Bioinformatics R&D group, Oh no sequences!, will attend to the conference "Microbiome: deciphering the last organ of human body" organized by "Fundación Lilly" that will be held in Madrid during 18-19 of November 2011.
Era7 attends 9th Annual BioPartnering North America 2011
Dr. Luis Mancera, CTO of Biomed division in Era7, represents the company in this international event. From 27 February to 1 March Dr. Mancera will present the company to potential partners and collaborators to develop its products, services and activities.
BioPartnering North America is part of the TVG Conference Network, focused on facilitating business development in an open and efficient way. Each year it attracts more than 800 biomedical industry leaders from over 30 countries.
Era7 is an internationally oriented company offering advanced products and services in bioinformatics and information technology specialized in the biomedical sector. Era7 is a Spanish leader in the analysis of DNA sequence data obtained using Next Generation Sequencing technologies. It is also the national reference in state-of-the-art integrated web and multimedia services for the biomedical sector.
From September 28 to October 1 a delegation of Era7 attended Biospain 2010, one of the main events for companies and institutions in the biotechnology sector. The objectives of the company focused on establishing contacts and collaborations with other attendees, both in terms of products and services and research related to the company activities.
Era7 attends Biospain 2010
Eduardo Pareja, Era7 CEO, discussed the current state of technologies used in data sequence analysis.
His presentation summarized the current state of the main sequencing technologies and mentioned there will be future needs in outsourcing services due to more and more bioinformatics requirements in order to analyze the increasing volume of data.
At the forum Biospain 2010 and within the cycle of sessions "Bioinformatic solutions for genomics: from sequence to biotechnology and biomedicine," Dr. Eduardo Pareja, CEO of Era7 Information technologies, gave his talk, "Next generation sequencing real world applications" The paper was intended to foresee future bioinformatics needs, resulting from advances in next generation sequencing (NGS). After analyzing the requirements of current massive genome sequencing systems, Dr. Pareja predicted a growing trend towards outsourcing these services at the expense of "in house" equipment. He also emphasized the benefits of bioinformatics based on "cloud computing" to handle large amounts of data efficiently, safely and quickly at competitive prices.
at NGS2009
NGS2009 Conference about Next Generation Sequencing took place last October in Barcelona.
We submitted two posters to the conference. You can get them here.
at Sysbiol 2008
Last december took place at Valencia Sysbiol 2008, the 4th Meeting of the Spanish Systems Biology Network. It was a truly great event. Outstanding plenary speakers, and a pretty good overview of systems biology research in Spain, all in one!
.
We were there, with Eduardo Pareja-Tobes giving an oral presentation on biological networks and category theory. You can find the slides here:
